Example Letter

Dear Jane,

We’re staying at a hotel in Scotland. The weather has been great—really hot and sunny. We’ve been very lucky so far. Everyone here says it usually rains in September.

We’ve done so many fascinating things. We’ve climbed mountains and sailed across one of the lakes. You know Scotland is famous for its lakes. The best-known one is Loch Ness, where, according to legend, a large monster lives. We’ve already visited that famous lake, but, unfortunately, we didn’t see any monster.

We’ve also visited some old castles. The most beautiful one is Stirling Castle. I’ve taken some great photos with my new camera—the scenery here is absolutely stunning.

We’ve had a great time in the evenings too. There are a few other teenagers at the hotel, and I’ve spent the evenings playing table tennis and watching videos with them.

Well, I have to go now. See you at school next week.

Love,
Julia
