The Reasons and Effects of Stress

So, Natalie, what information about stress have you found that we could include in our presentation? I've found quite a lot about the reasons for stress among teenagers. What are those reasons? Apart from the obvious factors like a serious disease or the death of someone close, teenagers are stressed out by high school demands, negative feelings about themselves, changes in their bodies and, more and more often, by taking on too many activities. Teachers act like their parents, who they copy without realising it. Parents are busy and so their children want to be the same. Interesting. I've never thought about it in that way. But it's true. OK, I've got some information about the effects stress can have on people. For example, too much stress leads to anxiety and even aggression. In many cases, teenagers develop so-called chronic stress syndrome and this can make them very ill, both physically and mentally, in equal measure. That sounds good. How about adding something on stress management? That could be useful. Many young people have little idea about that. Any ideas? The best advice is to decrease the so-called negative self-talk. Instead of saying, my life is terrible and it'll never get better, learn to tell yourself, my life may be hopeless at the moment, but it'll get better if I work at it and ask for help. I think it's a good piece of advice. Yes, but it's easier said than done. I'd prefer some more practical ideas like taking up a sport or talking to your friends about your problems, etc.
