My School Day
Hi, Simon. How are you? Oh, hi, Amanda. I’m tired. Me too. I go to sleep really late because my brother watches TV in his room and I can hear it. Oh, that’s a shame. But you don’t have to get up really early, like I do.
Get up really early? Why’s that? I take the boat to school now. It goes at half past seven, so Mum wakes us up at a quarter past six. We have breakfast and leave home at seven.
So you’ve changed schools? Yes. The school on our island is for six to eleven-year-olds. Now I’m twelve, I go to school on another island with my sister Tanya. She’s fourteen now.
Oh, what about getting home? The boat goes two hours after school finishes. Mum’s sister lives near the school, so we have dinner there.
So that’s your school day. It’s not like mine. Much more interesting. And longer. It’s what everyone my age on the island does. Some people probably think it’s fun, or even exciting, but I don’t like boats. Well, it’s the only way.
