Hi Tom,
We got back from Scotland on Sunday. It rained every day, but the mountains were amazing.
Love, Anna
Write back soon and tell me all about your holiday!
Thanks for your email – it was great to hear from you!
You asked about the best time to go. I'd say June – the days are long and it isn't too cold.

Remember: greeting → opening → main part → ending (closing line and sign-off).

Every letter, formal or informal, is built the same way: a greeting, an opening that says why you are writing, the main part, and an ending – a closing line and a sign-off with your name. Here three letters have been cut into pieces – put each piece where it belongs.

Watch the openings and closing lines: in a formal letter they are almost always set phrases (I am writing to…, I look forward to hearing from you), so learning a few of them by heart pays off in any exam.

Leave it if you want an answer.
