Flashcards
Flashcards are the simplest way to learn new words – and they work for much more than words. Put a word, a question or a picture on the front, and its meaning, a translation or the answer on the back, with an example sentence if you like. Students look at the card, say the answer, flip it to check and press “I know it” or “Again”: the cards they don't know come back until they know them all, and their progress stays in the browser. Show a set on the board for the whole class, send the link for homework, play it as a Matching Pairs game, or print the cards to cut out – double-sided or folded in half.

Frequently Asked Questions
How do students learn with these flashcards?
Look at the front of the card and say the answer – aloud or to yourself. Then flip the card with a click, a tap or the space bar to check, and press I know it or Again. The cards you marked Again come back after the round until you know them all. Progress is saved in the browser, so you can stop and come back later.
Can I use flashcards with the whole class?
Yes. Open the set in fullscreen on the board: the class says the answer together, and you flip the card to check. Shuffle the cards for a new order, or start with the back to ask the other way round – from the meaning to the word. Auto-read lets the browser say every card aloud.
Can I print the flashcards?
Yes. Press Print cards under the set. Double-sided printing puts the fronts on one page and the backs on the next, in mirror order, so every back lands behind its front when you choose Flip on long edge – 8 cards or 4 large cards on an A4 page. Without a double-sided printer, choose Fold in half: each card is printed as a strip with the front and the back side by side.
Can I make a game from a flashcard set?
Yes. Press Play as Matching Pairs under the set: the same cards turn into a game at once – students drag each front to its back, or switch to Memory, alone or in teams. A set with more than 20 cards gives a new mix of 20 every time. To keep the game, press Save as a Matching Pairs game, give it a title and publish it.
