The full animated Room on the Broom: a witch, a dog, a bird, a frog, a snapped broom and a hungry dragon - ten minutes of story with almost no words.
The witch loses her hat, her bow and her wand; a dog, a bird and a frog bring them back and ask for a place on the broom. The broom snaps, a dragon turns up hungry, and the three animals come to the rescue covered in mud. The film follows the book almost picture for picture, so learners who have heard the story recognise every scene.
There is very little speech in it, and that is what makes it work from Pre-A1 upwards: the pictures carry the plot, and the class can say what is happening in their own words. Pause after each thing the witch drops and ask what it is and who found it; at the end, ask who saved her and how. The activities of the Room on the Broom book companion use the same twenty words and the same scenes.
