Create Your Own Bingo

Make a bingo game from your own words: type or paste a list, add pictures, or give the caller a clue to read instead of the word – a definition, a question, a translation or the first form of a verb. Choose 3×3, 4×4 or 5×5 cards, try the game, then publish it to call the words on the board, share the cards by QR code or print up to 40 different cards.

1. Pick a template, or type your words – at least 9, one per row. Add a picture to any word.
2. Want the caller to read a definition, a question or a translation instead of the word? Write it as a clue.
3. Press Try it to see the caller screen and the cards, then give the activity a title and publish it.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many words does a bingo game need?

At least 9 for 3×3 cards, 16 for 4×4 and 25 for 5×5 (24 with a free centre); up to 50 in one game. With more words than squares, every card gets its own mix of words, and the game lasts longer. With exactly as many words as squares, all cards have the same words in a different order.

What is a clue, and when do I need one?

A clue is what the caller reads instead of the word, while the cards show the word itself. Use clues for definitions (“This person flies a plane” – pilot), opposites, questions and answers, translations or verb forms (“go” – went). The caller screen shows the clue first and the answer only when you press Show the answer.

Are there ready-made bingo templates?

Yes. Press Start from a template to see them by topic and level: picture bingo for young learners, animals, colours, classroom objects, jobs, opposites and feelings, irregular verbs in the Past Simple and the Past Participle, and listening bingo with numbers, days and months. A template fills in the words and the card settings; change anything before you publish.

Is the bingo maker free, and do students need an account?

Creating, publishing, playing and printing bingo games is free, and nobody needs an account. Publish the game to get a link, open it on the board, show the QR code to the class or print the cards; it works in any modern browser on a computer, tablet or phone.
