Present Simple Jeopardy is a quiz board for revising the present simple. Thirty-five questions are split into five categories, and the price of a square says how hard the question behind it is: 100 is a warm-up, 700 makes the class think.

  • Rules – how the tense is built: when to add -s, when to take do and when does
  • Positive – put the verb into the gap in an affirmative sentence
  • Negative – decide which of the sentences is written correctly
  • Questions – choose the pair that makes the question work: Do or Does, and the form of the verb after it
  • Short Answers – look at the picture, hear the question and answer it the short way

Play it in teams on the board at the front of the class, or let students work through it on their own. Squares that have been taken stay crossed out, so it is easy to see what is left; the Reset button starts the game again.

Leave it if you want an answer.
