Present Continuous Jeopardy
Present Continuous Jeopardy is a quiz board for revising the present continuous. Thirty-six questions are split into six categories, and the price of a square says how hard the question behind it is: 100 is a warm-up, 600 makes the class think.
- Sounds – listen to a recording and write what the person is doing
- Rules – how the tense is built: am, is, are plus a verb with -ing, and what happens to the final -e
- Negative – choose the right form of be for the subject: isn’t, aren’t or am not
- Positive – look at the picture and type the verb in the present continuous
- Questions – put the words in the right order; some of them are not needed
- Short answers – look at the picture and answer the question the short way
Two categories ask students to write rather than choose, so the board works as a warm-up and as a written check at once. Play it in teams on the screen at the front of the class, or let students work through it on their own. Squares that have been taken stay crossed out; the Reset button starts the game again.
