    Goes with both, mostly in positive sentences:

    Katy eats a lot of pasta.
    There are a lot of toy cars in his room.

    much and many are more usual in negatives and questions.

    a few / a little = some, enough: We've got a few eggs – let's make an omelette. few / little without a = not enough, almost none: There is little milk left – we need to buy some.
