Halloween Traditions and Their Origins – A2–B1 Listening - Part 6

True or false about where Halloween came from

Eight statements on a short film: that Halloween has Christian roots, that 31 October was the eve of the Celtic Christmas, that the holiday began in the United States, what the costumes and jack-o’-lanterns were for.

The statements are the kind that sound right either way, and the film contradicts several of them by one word. That is the step up from the A2 task next door: there the answers are in what people do, here they are in dates and origins.

Level: B1 · Skills: listening for detail, telling fact from claim · Theme: the origins of Halloween
