Christmas Vocabulary Level 3 – Odd One Out

This activity is designed for B1–B2 learners who already know basic Christmas words and want to go further. Students look at groups of festive words and decide which one is the odd one out – the word that does not belong.

What this activity practises:

• advanced Christmas vocabulary and word families
• noticing meaning and collocations
• speaking skills through short explanations
• critical thinking and justification of choices

How to use: Ask students to work alone, in pairs, or in small groups. They choose the odd word in each line and explain why it does not fit with the others. Then, invite them to create their own Odd One Out sets using new Christmas vocabulary. This turns simple vocabulary review into a lively discussion task.
