Letter Asking for Advice Worksheet

Letter Asking for Advice – B1 Writing Worksheet

A B1 worksheet built around a short letter to an advice column: Pat and her sixteen-year-old daughter cannot agree on anything, and now the daughter is threatening to leave home. Learners listen to the letter, work with its language and then write their own.

• listen to the beginning and choose the correct ending;
• tick the phrases you can use in a letter asking for advice;
• put the words in order and fill in the prepositions;
• listen to the whole letter and fill in the missing words;
• write to a friend and ask how to solve a misunderstanding with your parents.

A Word file with the answer key and two recordings – the beginning of the letter and the full letter (zipped MP3). How to write this kind of letter is explained in Letter of Advice: How to Write It.
