Who Guy Fawkes was and why Britain lights bonfires on 5 November: the story of Bonfire Night in easy English, level A1. A 2-minute video with a worksheet.
At A1 the holiday has to be told in short sentences and shown in pictures. It is 5 November. People make a big fire. There are fireworks in the sky. Children eat toffee apples. Four sentences and the evening is described; the history can wait for a stronger group.
What makes this level work is repetition with variation. Say each sentence, have the class repeat it, then change one word and ask whether it is still true. Beginners who cannot yet produce a description can still answer yes or no, and by the end of the lesson most of them are saying the sentences themselves.
