Winter described in short, simple sentences: the weather, the clothes, what people do. For beginners meeting the season vocabulary for the first time.
At the easiest level winter is four or five sentences: It is winter. It is cold. There is snow. People wear warm clothes. Children play in the snow. Short, true, and every one of them can be shown in a picture.
Build from there by changing one word at a time and asking whether it is still true – it is hot? – so that beginners who cannot yet produce a sentence can still answer. By the end of the lesson most of the class is producing the sentences unprompted, which is the point at which the vocabulary has actually arrived.
