Nine autumn actions – jump in a pile of leaves, rake the leaves, pick apples, collect conkers, jump in puddles – then a round of question and answer: “What can you do in autumn?” – “I can…”. For ages 4–8.
Nine things children do in autumn, each shown and named: jump in a pile of leaves, walk in the leaves, throw leaves in the air, rake the leaves, pick apples, collect leaves, collect conkers, pick mushrooms and jump in puddles. Then the video asks “What can you do in autumn?” and waits after each question, so the class answers out loud: “I can jump in puddles.”
The grammar is can + verb, with no -s and no to: I can pick apples, he can pick apples. Words worth teaching before you press play: to rake (to pull leaves together with a rake), conkers (the shiny brown seeds of a horse chestnut tree – British English), a puddle (water on the ground after rain) and a pile of leaves.
Level Pre-A1 to A1, ages 4–8. Play it twice: the first time children listen, the second time they answer the question and act the action out – this one works standing up. The Autumn Fall worksheet below has the same picture vocabulary for the desk.
