Summer Movement Brain Break - Zoomed-In Picture Game for Kids

Seven summer objects shown as extreme close-ups: flip-flops, ice cream cone, beach ball, beach towel, water gun, watermelon, snorkel set. Every answer is followed by a movement the whole class does together.

A picture zoomed in far enough stops being an object and becomes a puzzle, and a class that has been sitting for forty minutes will shout at it. Seven summer things appear one at a time - flip-flops, an ice cream cone, a beach ball, a towel, a water gun, a watermelon, a snorkel set - and after each answer comes an action: jumping jacks, squats, crab kicks, the moonwalk, the floss.

Nothing is needed except floor space. The English is the summer vocabulary and the action words, and both get repeated by children who are too busy moving to notice they are practising. Five minutes, A1-A2, and it works equally well as a rainy-day filler and as the break between two heavy grammar tasks.
