I See Spring is built on one repeated phrase, and that repetition is the whole point for a language classroom: children hear I see… on every page with a new noun after it, and by the middle of the book they are saying the frame themselves.

Take the frame outside afterwards. Walk round the playground or look through the window and finish the sentence with whatever is actually there – I see a bird, I see the rain, I see a green leaf. A structure practised on real things is remembered; the same structure practised on flashcards usually is not.
