Have You Ever? Christmas Edition. Speaking Questions

Christmas questions in the present perfect: have you ever decorated a tree, sung a carol, made a snowman? Speaking practice that drills a difficult tense without it feeling like grammar.

Have you ever…? is one of the hardest structures to teach in the abstract and one of the easiest to practise with a festive list. Have you ever decorated a tree, sung a carol, made a snowman, opened a present early, cooked Christmas dinner? Every question has a real answer, and the real answer needs the present perfect.

The follow-up is where the grammar is learned: once a student says yes, I have, ask when – and the answer switches to the past simple, because now the occasion is specific. That contrast between the two tenses is the actual lesson, and a list of holiday questions teaches it better than an explanation.
