Present Perfect Speaking Game - Breaking News Roleplay: Share, React, and Ask Follow-Up Questions

Present Perfect News

break my phone

Turn the present perfect into a live news broadcast! Students get a prompt – like "break a cup" – and announce it as breaking news: "Guess what! A child has broken a cup!" Their partner reacts ("No way! Really?") and keeps the conversation going with follow-up questions ("When did it happen? Who saw it?"). With 20 ready-made prompts, it's an A2 speaking activity that drills has/have + past participle through surprising, real-sounding news – ideal as pair-work or a whole-class game.
