Frequently Asked Questions

When does each door of the Christmas Advent Calendar 2026 open?

One door opens every day from 1 to 24 December 2026, so Day 5 becomes available on 5 December. Until the calendar starts, a couple of sample days stay open all year, so you can try the activities in advance. Once a door has opened, it stays open, and you can go back to earlier days at any time.

Who is the Christmas Advent Calendar for?

The calendar is made for English learners and their teachers: young learners, teens and adult ESL classes. Days range from quick vocabulary games with pictures to speaking tasks where students give advice, share their opinion, build a story or answer questions in character. Most activities take 5–15 minutes, which makes them an easy warm-up for a lesson.

Do I need an account to use the Christmas Advent Calendar?

No. All days of the Christmas Advent Calendar are free and open without registration. The houses you have already opened are marked with a green tick, and this progress is saved in your browser on this device. If you want to start again, for example with a new class, use Reset my progress under the calendar.

How can I use the Advent Calendar in an English lesson?

Show today's door on a projector or interactive whiteboard at the start of the lesson and play the activity together. Then let students discuss their answers in pairs or small groups and share the best ideas with the class. If you only have lessons a few times a week, open the days you missed one after another.
