The City of London, often referred to simply as "the City," is the historical and financial core of the capital. While few residents live there, over a million people commute daily for work. Notable landmarks include the Tower of London — once a royal palace, fortress, and prison — and St. Paul’s Cathedral, a world-renowned church with a magnificent dome.
Westminster is the political heart of the city. It’s home to Buckingham Palace, the official residence of the monarch, and the Houses of Parliament. One of its towers holds the iconic Big Ben, which chimes every 15 minutes. Just across the street lies Westminster Abbey, where British monarchs have been crowned for centuries.
The West End is known for its wealth and beauty. It features luxurious hotels, top-rated restaurants, exclusive shops, elegant homes, and stunning parks. Trafalgar Square, one of London’s most famous public spaces, is also located in this district.
In contrast, the East End has traditionally been an industrial area. It is home to several factories and also includes the historic Port of London.
London is also world-famous for shopping. Harrods, one of the most luxurious department stores in the world, is located here. It is known for its wide selection of goods and its royal clientele.
The city is rich in green spaces. Parks like Hyde Park and Regent’s Park offer peaceful spots to walk, relax, picnic, or enjoy outdoor activities — right in the heart of a bustling metropolis.
