Who am I? Halloween vocabulary game

A guessing game for Halloween vocabulary: the clues describe a ghost, a witch or a skeleton, and students name it. Practises describing with "it has got" and "it lives in" as well as the seasonal words.

In a Who am I? game the clues describe a creature and the class names it: I am white, I can fly through walls, I say boo. The answer is one word, but getting there means listening to three sentences, which is exactly the balance a beginner class needs.

The game is worth more when students write the clues themselves. Composing three sentences about a vampire forces the same structures a description task would – I have got, I live in, I come out at – but nobody experiences it as grammar practice.

Keep the clues in a fixed order – what it looks like, where it lives, what it does – and weaker students have a frame to copy while stronger ones add detail. The whole class then plays at its own level with one set of rules.
