An interactive Present Simple random wheel for ESL classrooms — perfect as a warm-up, drill or speaking activity. One click on Start spins all three wheels at once, and they stop in sequence to give your students a complete sentence prompt.
Each spin gives the class four random elements:
- Outer wheel — subject: I, you, he, she, we, they, Peter, children.
- Middle wheel — frequency adverb: always, usually, often, sometimes, every day, on Fridays.
- Inner wheel — sentence type: + affirmative, − negative or ? question.
- Picture box — the verb: a random action picture appears on the right, telling students which verb to use.
Students put it all together — for example, the wheels land on he, often, ? and a picture of play football, so the class produces: Does he often play football?
Use the verbs / verbs with words toggle to show or hide the verb word list — handy for differentiating between weaker and stronger learners. The History panel keeps every combination from the lesson, so you can return to earlier prompts for a quick review.
How to use it in class
- Warm-up: 3–5 spins at the start of the lesson, students answer chorally.
- Pair work: one student spins, the partner builds the sentence — then swap.
- Whole-class drill: elicit affirmative, negative and question forms from the same picture.
- Writing task: spin 8–10 times, students write all sentences in their notebooks.
